I grew up in Connecticut, and I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English and History, but I knew throughout my time in college that I wanted to become a teacher and worked as a substitute teacher over the course of my time in Virginia. I took a series of early childhood education classes throughout my university career which exposed me to Montessori philosophy. I was struck by the emphasis that it had on developing the whole person and fostering independence and empathy in equal measure. Upon my graduation, I moved to San Diego, CA to begin working as a Montessori Upper Elementary Assistant. Life has since led me to Washington and to my current position with BMS! Outside of work, I love to read (anything and everything!), cook and bake, and am an avid vinyl record collector. I deeply love to travel and take any opportunity I can to explore the world around me.
