Spruce Lead Classroom Teacher

After assisting Toddler and Primary classrooms for 10 years, I received my Montessori accreditation in 2021, and have been leading Primary classrooms ever since. There are many reasons why I enjoy teaching Montessori, including respecting and teaching the whole child, how order permeates throughout the classroom, its reverence for the Earth and cultivation of beauty, and the message of peace, but deep down, I just like to read books and sing songs! The thing I most value is cultivating community. I love collaborating with families and having parents as guest speakers, whether it's sharing a special skill, culture, holiday, or craft. Teaching is more interesting, fun, and enriching when everyone contributes a little bit. I live in Seattle, and I like to read (especially at the park), ride bikes, play tennis, play piano (badly), and I also enjoy bookmaking. I love the arts and like to go to museums, attend readings, attend the opera, and volunteer and lead many events!
