Jerome Mayoral

Jerome Mayoral

Science Specialist

Jerome's diverse experiences as an academic intervention specialist, general education teacher

and special education teacher include supporting students from early childhood to adulthood

with the following learning profiles: dyslexia, dysgraphia, emergent multilinguals, ADHD, autism

spectrum, those with significant learning loss, as well as gifted and twice exceptional. Jerome is

a lifelong learner with an inquisitive approach to education. Acquired during her fourteen years

in education, she possesses a deep knowledge of human social emotional development

alongside the Orton-Gillingham approach.

Having experienced personal academic struggles, Jerome effortlessly connects with students

and families. Like many of our students, Jerome contended with classroom instruction which

did not meet her needs as a young neurodiverse learner. Fortunately, after two years in a

specialized reading remediation program she advanced from failing to thriving! This later led to

another big step in her education career, her masters in English immersion. Since then she has

encountered a wide variety of opportunities from which she draws to meet the needs of her

students.

Jerome’s resolve to see students and families flourish inspires within her a deep desire to

guide students in understanding their own learning needs, and cognitive strengths. This is

accomplished by constructing a safe inclusive environment, ensuring students feel free of

judgment. Establishing this early on in the students time with Jerome, allows her students the

space to benefit fully from instructional time. Jerome is empowering students to reach

mastery utilizing her exceptional compassion alongside the rigor of the multimodal

components of academic learning. Advocating for and supporting students across a variety of

communities is her lifelong passion.
