My undergraduate and Master’s degrees are in Mathematics and Economics.

I spent 11 years working with students and training teachers in space science education as part of Challenger Learning Centers and science museums. I learned many important lessons that I’ve carried with me and also found salient in my time at Bellevue Montessori. I learned that you can teach almost any type of lesson through topics that students are already excited about. The Montessori community already knows this, and I witnessed it firsthand while helping teachers fulfill educational standards using student enthusiasm for space, robotics, and rocketry. The other thing that became clear to me over my career is that children are natural scientists. Simply ask any child “what do you think will happen if...?” or “what do you notice about this, does it remind you of anything?” and you will see their boundless energy for scientific inquiry. I also hosted a local, general interest, radio show for 7 years which taught me that adults are similarly interested in thinking and learning about the world around us! Working with Bellevue Montessori elementary students in the Science Lab has been such a pleasure. Each week I can’t wait to see what they’ll discover as they work together!
